My 4-year old son really enjoys having "Your Big Backyard" read to him at night. It is a very interesting magazine, covering all types of animals (fish and mammals). There are many short articles that will help develop a child’s reading skills. There are also longer articles, so that a parent can read along with their child. The magazine also has educational activities for children. There are mazes, drawing, suggested outdoor activities, etc. to help your child learn about nature.
To be honest, I enjoy reading the magazine to my son because I actually learn something about the different animals that are covered in the magazine.
This magazine is geared for pre-school to 1st grade kids.

There are interesting facts, terrific pictures, poems and stories, and projects, crafts, games and activities! My grandchildren simply love Your Big Backyard magazine. Recently, when I visited them (they are in Nebraska) I noticed the ragged, well studied edition. It is read from the oldest to the youngest (9yrs to 1yr). Instead of sending more toys which they don't need, I send magazine gift subscriptions. This way, each month, they are looking forward to their magazine. A very good investment!!

I purchased Your Big Back Yard Magazine for my 5 year old son and I couldn’t be happier with the magazine! My son watches for it in the mail and the very day it arrives we read it from cover to cover! Not only does the magazine teach young ones about commonly found animals, it also encourages hands on activities related to the magazine's theme for each issue. So far, my son liked making worms from the recipe we found in the last issue the best! I think this magazine is appropriate for a very broad age span and it is very well written. I even keep the subscriptions to use with kids I teach... I will surely subscribe again.

I love to shop Mags4Cheap, especially for my grandchildren. The prices are great so I can purchase them several subscriptions, which they really enjoy. My Big Back Yard is a real favorite for them to share with their Mom. Reading is fundamental and a variety of magazines such as this and National Geographic for Kids is interesting for them and educational too - all while exposing them to more reading materials. My mother ordered Your Big Back Yard magazine for my 3 children over the years. When one would grow too old my mother would order it for the next one. Because of their love for the magazine we had to establish a rule at our house that the child Your Big Back Yard was addressed to was the one that got to look at it first when it came in the mail, then the older children were allowed to read it.
They all thoroughly enjoyed reading through it, loved the pictures, and each had their favorite sections. They never threw them away, keeping them under their beds in boxes. The pictures and information were often used in school projects, crafts they made at home, and cards they made for their friends.
Now we are beginning a new generation of Your Big Back Yard fans. I ordered a subscription for my first grandson and he is looking forward to receiving his first issue.
